London: Day 2

06 Sep

On our 2nd day in London, Mikayla and I just kind of winged it! (Since we did SO MUCH the day before) The first place we went to was the British Museum. Since it was free to get it, we def. took advantage of this! We bought those automated tour for only 3 pounds and spent about 2 and a half hours walking around the Museum. We saw Cleopatra’s tomb, amazing Greek artifacts, and some Egyptian art, jewlery, and pottery.

After Mikayla’s sandals broke (lol) we had to go into a tourist shop where she bought THE FUNNIEST (and only) sandals they had in the store, so of course they had the British Flag on them. While we were in there we asked one of the locals which would be cheaper. The London Dungeon (historical amusement) or a Play. Well The London Dungeon won at only 20 pounds (where as a play would have been 40 pounds). We took the tube over to the London Bridge where the this was located. This place was awesome. It showed how they treated criminals dating back to the 1600′s. Their torture tools, how the judiciary system worked (not fair at all I might add). They also performed surgery on these “inmates” to further their knowledge on our organs (WHILE THEY WERE ALIVE). As the timeline increased we learned about The Plague, Sweeney Todd, Jack the Ripper, and of course all leading up to OUR death sentence (which was to be hung). We took the boat ride to hell (like one of those lof flume things) where they pulled us out and left us in a dark room and  put us in these seats in a seperate room and took us up about 5 flights, pulled the so called “plank” out from underneath us and we free fell. TOTALLY UNEXPECTED I might add, but a lot of fun!

After The London Dungeon we took the tube back to the other side of the city and went shopping on Oxford Ave. The shopping was awesome, but tiring too! Once we got back to the Hotel that night around 10pm we just crashed!! And left the hotel at 10am the next morning.

London Night life…

06 Sep

Friday night we drank a little bit at the hotel and went out in Leister Square.  We went to Club Tiger Tiger, and it was about 10 pounds to get in. TOTALLY WORTH IT THOUGH!! This place was HUGE! It was about 5 floors and different clubs and atmosphere on each floor.

Pit stop at Sherlock Holmes

This restaurant has been in business since the 1700′s…This place was awesome. We sat on the terrace upstairs and enjoyed a Pint and some Fish and Chips!!

London

06 Sep

Well First off…London is amazing!! I really loved this city. By far my 2nd favorite city (behind NYC of course). Its not your average city with sky scrapers. The history behind this gorgeous buildings is just incredible. We started off our first day taking the tour guide bus and got a free boat tour as well. Now this was the best idea everr b/c we got to see just about EVERYTHING in 1 day and were able to listen to the tour guide give us info about everything.

Just got on the tour bus, around 9:45am!

Finally here!!! :)

31 Aug

I can’t even begin to describe how it felt when the Manor was FINALLY in sight!! All I wanted to do was get off that Bus, jump into the shower and straight to bed. BUT they had different plans for us :/  When we got off the bus they took us to the refectory where we were able to eat some lunch. Now, it tech wasn’t really lunch for us since our heads all thought it was like 5 in the morning! But I managed to stay awake and get to my British Studies Orientation where they served us wine during class, so that was pretty sweet!!!

Heathrow Airport

31 Aug

Once we landed we went downstairs to grab all our luggage and attempted to find our way to Terminal 3! It wasn’t too bad, we just had to jump on the tram. BUT I guess im used to NYC where you have to jump on the train pretty quickly before it leaves. WELL…thats not how they do it here lol. I jumped on the train so quickly they kicked me off right away. APPARENTLY they like to clean it at EVERY stop. So once the tram got there we had to wait about 10 minutes before they let us on.

Waiting for tram...Ugh, it was SUPER hot in there!! (they don't really believe in AC)

The food on the plane was pretty decent on the way here!
